Let’s start with what is Hemoglobin?

Hemoglobin or Haemoglobin can be defined as the protein molecule that is found in the red blood cell of which is responsible to carry oxygen from the lungs to the various organs and tissue of the body and to an extent carries back the carbon dioxide from the organs and tissue to the lungs.

It is generally represented by the Hb or Hbg. The normal range of hemoglobin of an adult man ranges from 13.5- 17.5 grams and for a woman it ranges from 12.0–15.5.Normal level of Hemoglobin helps to maintain the natural shape of red blood cells (RBC) whereas abnormal level affects their natural shape thus interrupting in the function and flow along the blood vessels.

Lower level of Hemoglobin leads to anaemia, a condition where there is lack of enough healthy RBC in the blood leading to the disruption of adequate oxygen flow to the organs and tissues. It can also be termed as Iron deficiency in the body as our bone marrow requires enough amount of iron to produce hemoglobin. Research says that there are about 400 types of anaemia

Lower level of Hb or anaemia can cause various side effects which may include

Fatigue

Weakness & Tiredness

Palpitation- irregular heartbeats

Chest pain

Pale skin

Difficulty in breathing.

Loss of sleep

Anxiety

Let’s have a look at these food that helps us to increase our hemoglobin level naturally.

FIGS

Commonly called as (Anjeer) is also called as super food because of its high nutritional value and contain high mineral and fibre as compared to any other fruits, nuts, vegetables and can be consumed fresh or dried. It contain rich amount of antioxidant which helps in improved blood flow increasing the RBC count at a much higher pace, is also a source fibre and contains nutrients like iron, potassium, calcium, copper.

The best way to eat figs is to soak 3–4 dried figs in a cup of fresh water and eat the soaked figs and drink the water in the morning, or

cut 400–500 grams of fig into small pieces and keep in into a jar, pour olive oil into the jar and keep it for 4–5 days till the figs absorbs the oil, eat 4–5 pieces of figs every morning.

DATES

Dates also now as khajoor are an important and natural source for iron required by our body as its iron content is very rich. It is also full of many nutrients like potassium, magnesium, calcium and vitamins like A, B1, B2, C and the fibre helps increase the blood count resulting in higher level of hemoglobin.

Dates can be eaten at anytime but the best time is to take in the morning. Soak 5–6 dates in milk in tea cup overnight and take it in the morning after brush.

BEETROOT

Beetroot contains folate (vitamin B9) helpful in keeping our blood vessels healthy. It contains iron, Vitamin C, Potassium. Beetroot is low in fats and contain powerful antioxidant which helps to protect the cells from damage and thus helps in increasing the blood count and also helps in detoxification and support anti inflammation.

Beetroot can be consumed directly in the form of salad or its juice mixed with carrot juice have the most nourishing and healing benefits.

POMOGRANATE

Pomegranate is rich in calcium and Iron and its Vitamin C property helps to absorb the iron content in the fruit. Regular consumption of its juice can help to keep the hemoglobin level normal.

Pomegranate can be eaten directly or its juice can be extracted and can be consumed during day time after food.

WATERMELON

One of the favourite summer fruits which helps us o keep hydrated .Rich in iron content. Its vitamin C source helps in better absorption of iron present in the fruit resulting in better hemoglobin level.

Watermelon as it is a juicy fruit and helps us to keep hydrated it should be avoided to be consumed at night.

APPLES

Rightly said an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apples contains rich amount of iron and helps to boost the hemoglobin level.

if we are peeling the skin and eating then we are peeling the nutrients from the apples. the skin contains a fibre called pectin that has a probiotic capabilities.

LIVER

Liver is one of the best ways to increase your blood count. It contain high amount of iron, small serving of liver is enough to increase the blood count and treats anaemia. 100grms Chicken liver contains approx 9mg of iron.

Liver should always be barbequed and consumed with salt and peeper to add flavor.

It is always said that a healthy and balanced diet helps to improve our overall health and to keep us in shape. Unbalanced and unhealthy diet and overeating and consuming foods without being hungry is one of most important cause of over increasing diseases in humans. We human are the only creatures who eats more than need, no animal eat more than their hunger.
